Non-Dairy Vegan Ice Cream: Arctic Zero vs Wink

Well, the weather is finally starting to get a little better somewhat, and I’ve been excited to try some of the lower calorie non-dairy vegan ice cream options, so I’m opted to try a couple out and review them.

Arctic Zero

This brand is no stranger to the ice cream market, however, what was once a lactose-free line now offers a non-dairy line after a brand and product makeover!

I tried 6 flavors out of the 9 flavors that are offered. Full range of flavors are (the ones I tried are bolded): Cherry Chocolate Chunk, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Salted Caramel, Cookie Shake, Purely Chocolate, Cake Batter, Brownie Blast, Cookie Dough Chunk, and Hint of Mint.

The ice cream varies from 160 – 320 calories for the WHOLE pint! Which just seems crazy to me! Their ingredients are very clean and free of any artificial ingredients and they proudly do not use any sugar alcohols.

My favorite flavors out of the 6 were Brownie Blast and Hint of Mint. The others were very subtle in chocolate flavor, and these two just had a little more punch to them. Overall, they were a great alternative for having so little calories!

Wink Frozen Dessert

This ice cream brand has been Facebook stalking me for a while, so I figured I should at least give it a try. They are a keto-friendly, plant-based ice cream with clean non-GMO ingredients.

I ordered four of the twelve flavors. Flavors consist of Vanilla Bean, Salted Caramel, Cake Batter, Strawberry, Cocoa Dough, Lemon Cake, Pumpkin Spice Latte, Dark Chocolate, Cinnamon Bun, S’mores, Chocomint, and Strawberry Cheesecake.

There is a 4-pint minimum when ordering, and I would love to try a couple more flavors that sound really delicious. The entire caloric value of each pint is 100 calories. You heard that right, 100 CALORIES!!! Seems insane if you ask me, but this is obviously part of what intrigued me. Each pint also has 8 grams of Vegan Protein and no sugars.

My favorite flavor was Dark Chocolate for sure.. Similar to Arctic Zero, the flavors were lightly sweet with a hint of whatever flavor they were. These are not going to taste like a Ben & Jerry’s or a Haagen Daaz (non-dairy versions), but the caloric intake justifies this.

If you’re looking for an alternative, honestly, both of these brands will do that job. Depending on what flavors interest you, a lightly sweet treat is in store with these ice creams!

Have you tried either brand? What did you think?
